There are a few cases where, unfortunately, the implant treatment is not possible.
Absolute or temporary contraindication is bone tissue that had been under radiation therapy. Also, people with very serious cases of osteoporosis, with unregulated diabetes cannot have dental implants. Even persons with drug dependence and established periodontal disease belong to the category of patients that are not eligible for this treatment.
Another reason that could prevent the placement of implants is lack of suffiecient bone tissue. This problem though, can be eliminated by the use of bone grafts .
The long-term success of the prosthetic restorations on implants is based on the experience of the specialist. But also , to the oral hygiene status of the patient after the surgery.
Dentists ould teach their patients how to brush and floss properly with their new implant . They should advice their patients how to adopt new habits for a longer lasting implant.
The implants must be cleaned at the same rate as natural teeth , if we want to have them for many many years !
Also,you shouldn’t forget about your regular dental appointements , for a check-up and a professional cleaning !
