The most obvious result from tooth loss, especially from multiple teeth loss that we notice mostly on older patients, is a visible decrease in facial aesthetics. We notice the lower third of the face decreasing in size and the face loses its proportions.
This happens usually after multiple extractions since the alveolar bone begins recessing.
As long as this bone recession is minor, we can proceed to implant placements, but if the recession is increased, bone augmentation surgery is recommended first.
